Schisandra Berry is one of the most utilized fundamental herbs in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The berries are said to contain all five basic flavors: sweet, salty, pungent, sour and bitter making them a common flavoring additive in juices, wines and other recipes. Schisandra chinensis is native to China and Russia and creeps upward on a woody vine. Quality berries will be large in size, with purple-red flesh and a strong aroma.
The polyphenol content of schisandra berries makes them an excellent adaptogen. Adaptogenic herbs help the body to combat stress and fatigue.
