Earthy, bold, and unpretentious
"Sumatra Mandheling is a solid, no-fuss cup for anyone who wants something dark and grounding without a lot of brightness or bite. The earthiness hits right away — it's rich and almost forest-floor in character, which I actually appreciate, though it might catch you off guard if you're used to brighter African or Central American roasts. The chocolate notes are real and come through more as a dark, bittersweet quality than anything sweet. Low acidity means it sits easy on the stomach, and the body is thick enough that it holds up well with milk or just on its own. Not flashy, but it does what it promises."

Depth of flavor
"I was not blessed with a sensitive flavor palette as the lucky few are. Coffee has always just been coffee to me. That is until I tried the Sumatra Mandheling! It has a great depth of flavor that I would further describe as chocolatey, earthy, warm, and comforting. Not sweet, but like a warm cup of hot chocolate on a cold night. For me, it is a coffee to be enjoyed any time of day, and not just for a quick cup in the morning. It is my favorite so far, and maybe forever because I don't have much reason to look for a better one."

"Why Sumatra Arabica beans? They are naturally low to zero acidity, and the Mandheling process brings out a smooth natural sweetness and deep flavor. When I saw that Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC offers roast-to-order Sumatra Mandheling, I had to try it. A bit about my coffee routine: I use a Nespresso Vertuo machine, but I prefer my own coffee. I reuse the original Vertuo capsules; opening them, cleaning them, and refilling them with Sumatra Mandheling beans from Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC, medium roast, bold-bodied, freshly roasted and ground for espresso. Great Everyday Bold Coffee
"Really enjoyed this one. It’s smooth, bold, and not acidic at all, which I prefer. Strong chocolate and earthy flavors, with a rich, full body that feels very satisfying. It’s not bitter, just deep and balanced. Great as a morning coffee and also holds up well if it sits for a bit. I’ve been making it as a pour-over and it comes out consistently good. If you like darker, fuller coffees instead of bright or fruity ones, this is definitely a great choice."

Wake Better!
"To be honest, I was looking for a reasonably priced gourmet-style daily coffee. Over the years, I have tried lot of brands and, not surprisingly, the really quality stuff is the most expensive. It's worth it to me to have a whole pot of low-acidity Sumatra every day. Finding FRESH ROASTED was a pleasant surprise. The quality and taste is equal to the pricier stuff I was buying. Mission accomplished."
