Indian Monsoon Malabar is a unique coffee with unmatched smoothness and a mellow flavor and mouthfeel. Notes of bakers chocolate come through predominantly and finish with mild, creamy flavor. This particular coffee undergoes a specialized monsoon process which changes it from its original form to a new size, shape and color.
The concept of "monsooning" coffee began during a time when coffee beans were still being transported in the hulls of ships on voyages from India to Europe. Due to the high humidity and gusty sea breezes, the coffee began to change in appearance by the time it reached its destination. The beans were swollen and had a pale yellow color much different from how they were originally harvested. Europeans soon discovered that the coffee had a very smooth and mellow flavor and it became increasingly popular. Today, monsooning is replicated in warehouses. Coffee is similarly exposed to elements and then sold to roasters all over the world to reproduce the same mellow cup that started an entire movement.

"Serious coffee drinker here, not a lot but the best I can get. I haunted Peet’s Coffee when it was a single tiny shop in Berkeley in the 70 s. Alas they stopped putting the roast date on their packages and in my opinion diversified too much. I’ve never heard of coffee from India before. Monsoon is a lovely word. India plus monsoon plus search for new coffee source led me to get this coffee from Fresh Roasted. I love it. Rich and smooth, just like I like it. Going back for more, and more again. Crazy about Coffee
"Monsoon Malabar has been the “go to “ coffee we’ve been drinking for years…. probably 20 plus years. We stumbled on it through our meat supplier who also sold other specialty items for the kitchen. Later on we began buying it online as my wife and I go through about 10 pounds every 2 months or so. Some people pack clothes and other items when they travel my wife and I pack coffee , a grinder and a French press. . We have strategically placed a French press and grinder at our daughter’s home when we visit. Haha. Less stuff to pack. We have always felt that our coffee in the morning was a special treat to look forward to. I’ve told my wife and others that the last thing I think about before I fall asleep at night is how good that first cup of coffee will taste in the morning. And if you are that crazy about coffee (we are) then you need great coffee like Monsoon Malabar to fulfill that need."

"I originally found this coffee at a store in Atlanta, GA. I then moved to Portland, Ore. Where they like fruity, weird, acidic coffee…not me. I want full-bodied, low-acid. This is the ONLY coffee that has that. This coffee is so good that when my son went to college one of his firsts text to me was “What is the coffee you buy? Everything else sucks! I keep trying coffees and they are all terrible!” So even he buys Monsoon Malabar! Look, if the kids like it, you know it’s hip!"

"I recently switched jobs and joined state. As wonderful government jobs could be employee resources are limited. The Kureig pods provided we the basic bad coffee pods in the small little pantry. I was looking for a good different 100% Arabiaca pod and I came across Indian Malabar. I love the depth this coffee carries in its taste. I will be ordering this again and again"
