FRC Signature Dark Roast Artisan Blend Coffee

Not the same old dark roast.

Dark roast lovers have been asking, and we listened. Our Roastmaster was challenged to develop something genuinely different from the flat, one-note dark roasts that dominate the category — and the FRC Signature Dark Roast is the result. A dark roast blend of Indonesian and Central American Arabica beans, responsibly sourced and roasted using state-of-the-art smokeless roasting technology for a cup that is bold and rich without the harshness. Great depth of flavor, a lingering toasty finish, and enough complexity to reward both drip and espresso.

Tasting Notes

A dark roast with real character: bold and rich at the core, with great depth of flavor and a lingering toasty finish that stays clean rather than bitter. The Indonesian component brings body and earthiness; the Central American beans add balance and structure. Developed for drip or espresso with equal intention.

Built for Dark Roast Drinkers Who Want More

The dark roast category is crowded with coffees that trade complexity for intensity — roasted so aggressively that origin character disappears entirely, leaving nothing behind but heat and bitterness. That's not what this is.

The FRC Signature Dark Roast was developed in response to a clear and consistent request from our customers: more dark roasts, and better ones. Our Roastmaster sourced Indonesian and Central American beans for their complementary profiles — the earthy, full-bodied depth of Indonesia paired with the cleaner structure of Central America — and roasted them using smokeless roasting technology that allows for precise development without the acrid edge that plagues lesser dark roasts. The result is a blend that earns the dark roast label while delivering something the category rarely offers: nuance.

A Good Fit If You

  • Drink dark roast daily and want one with actual depth and complexity
  • Pull espresso and need a blend that holds up under pressure
  • Are tired of dark roasts that taste burnt rather than bold
  • Want an OU Kosher certified dark roast worth recommending

Why This Blend Holds Up

FRC Signature Dark Roast is OU Kosher certified by the Orthodox Union, one of the most recognized Kosher certifying bodies in the world. Responsibly sourced and roasted in small batches using smokeless roasting technology, it's a dark roast built on craft rather than convention.

Roasted and Packed With the Same Care as the Coffee Itself

Fresh Roasted Coffee operates out of an SQF-certified facility, a globally recognized food safety standard that governs how the coffee is handled, roasted, and packaged at every step. The facility runs on renewable energy, and surplus power is fed back into the grid. The same standard that goes into the coffee goes into how it's made.

One cup in, and you'll understand why this one isn't like the others.

Seriously good coffee

"Savoring that first cup in the morning before the rest of my world wakes is the best part of the day!"

"FRC coffee never disappoints. The beans are fresh."

"For me this is just "okay. " Not quite as flavorful as some of the brews; little too far on the "burnt" end of the dark spectrum. Glad I tried it, but I won't re-order."

Kyle B. (3/5)

I was impressed!

"I saw a post regarding how much better this coffee is than they had expected. With coffee prices jumping and my paycheck NOT jumping, I wanted to start buying in bulk. But, I needed to 'test the waters' first. I ordered a bag of the Dark Brazil and was sufficiently impressed! I like my coffee strong but not bitter and this was perfect. I will definitely be ordering a 5 lb bag and stay stocked up! Thanks FRC for being here and saving me some $$$"

Kristen D. (5/5)

Really good coffee

"Great body with chocolate notes. Would recommend this selection to people who like full bodied dark roast coffees. The package is secured upon arrival and reseals to ensure freshness. I got the 5 pound bag and feel the package held well with it's weight. I will reorder."

Janelle C. (5/5)

Fresh & easy to order

"Hubby loves the dark roasted FRC, whole bean. We use a Breville that grinds the beans and makes espressos. Then we do a pour over. Always a nice “crema” from these beans."

Like Black Knight better

"Not as bold or interesting as I'd hoped. This is more like a "donut shop" dark, very smooth but not that interesting compared to say, Black Knight or Dark Mexican. I found it went well with our homebaked banana bread so if you like cake or muffins with your dark coffee, this will possibly please you."

gwynedd (4/5)

Well-balanced with hints of chocolate and low acidity.

"True to their name, FRC beans are always fresh and most aromatic. The FRC Dark Blend has great rich tones of chocolate and robust coffee lingering taste. Love the low acidity and long lasting cupping of this brew in espresso."

Gene V. (5/5)

Not as bold as hoped.

"I expected a little bolder coffee. Now I am trying FRC dark Mexican to possibly get bolder coffee."

Q&A

Are the non organic coffee beans treated /grown with a lot of chemical fertilizers ect.?
Hello! The only way to confirm that a coffee is grown without the use of chemicals/pesticides is to purchase USDA Organic certified coffee. We do our very best to source from some of the highest quality coffee farms in the world but without the organic certification, it's hard to tell what the farms are using year after year. Team FRC
I’m looking for coffee beans not grinded. I like to grind my own, are your coffee’s grind it already?
Hello! We offer whole bean and different grind options are also available for each coffee. Team FRC
