"Hojicha is lowest in caffeine among the true teas, so it is non-diuretic and good as an evening tea. The quality is excellent. The taste is somewhat unusual, one needs to get used to it. Some members of my family liked it, some were not so sure."

"This is my first hojicha, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. It's wholly different from steamed or pan-fried green tea. In both appearance and taste, hojicha is closer to a light black tea than a green tea. You can definitely taste the roasting process in the tea, and there is no bitterness. If you are looking for a tea that is milder than a black tea yet doesn't have the vegetal flavor of a green tea, give this a try."
