    Kochere is a small area within the well-known Yirgacheffe coffee-growing region of Ethiopia. Located in the SNNPR (Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region) of southern Ethiopia, Kochere is just south of the town of Yirgacheffe and is 250 miles southwest of Addis Ababa. The area contains washing stations where local farmers can bring their coffee for processing after it is harvested. The iron-rich acidic soil and high altitude of the region are ideal for growing specialty coffee and the Kochere district is known for producing some of the most lively Yirgacheffe coffees in the region. The Kochere Yirgacheffe is noted for its distinctive floral notes.

    Fine Ground: At a fine grind, coffee should be soft to the touch – slightly finer than granulated sugar.

    I have always liked dark roasted yirgacheffe coffee. Have tried different roasts but this is always been my favorite

    The lightest dark roast ever


    This is a light but very flavorful coffee in a dark roast form. This is a coffee anyone could love, even light roast drinkers. Very smooth with no bite, so if you're looking for bite, this one isn't for you.

    I'm so glad we tried the Dark Ethiopian. The smell of the whole beans is otherworldly - I can't quite describe it, but very different than all the others we tried. Spicy, loamy, mysterious.

    The beans are nice and oily, but not over-roasted by any means. They grind quite well, and they seem to keep for several weeks without too much drop-off.

    The result is delicious, and just the right strength. So good. If you're looking for something new and different, this is the one to try

    As indicated in my previous review a couple months ago, I would be back! The coffee was just as good this time. In fact, I just placed an order for my 3rd, 5lb bag but this time I am also going to try the java mocha. I will review that also. I did want to add that we are using a majority of the coffee in our espresso machine rather than a standard pot. With it's bold body and dark roast, it easily pulls it off in my opinion.


    Even Better When You Buy It Directly from the Roaster


    I drink a lot of coffee. I began buying Fresh Roasted products from Amazon a couple of years ago because they have a good selection of coffees in 5lb. bags. I go through one every three weeks or so. I noticed recently on the packaging that they are located within a couple of hours of my house so I went to the website and found even more variety than Amazon was carrying. Additionally, the price and shipping were about the same so I ordered the Dark Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Kochere that I had not seen at Amazon. Absolutely delicious! I plan to order directly from Fresh Roasted from now on.
