This cup is bright and exceptionally sweet and shares the perfect balance and floral like fragrance of all wet-processed Kenyan coffees.

Cupping Notes: peach blossom, orange zest, black tea

Ichamara is one of five "factories" that form the Gikaru Farmers Cooperative Society. A factory is a wet mill in Kenya that serves a particular micro-region. Gikaru is interesting in that it is located farther to the south than where most of our Kenya coffees from Nyeri district originate.

Fine Ground: At a fine grind, coffee should be soft to the touch – slightly finer than granulated sugar.

Espresso: Great espresso requires skill, patience and quality equipment. Without these things, and a proper grind, espresso can be thin and weak or over extracted and clog in the portafilter. The perfect grind is essential to reaching espresso nirvana; an intensely rich and creamy extraction with thick crema and well rounded flavor.
    Grind: Fine/Very Fine

Aeropress: The Aeropress is a quick and efficient way to make flavorful, rich coffee with low acidity and bitterness. With specially designed micro-filter technology the Aeropress consistently provides some of the best coffee in just under 20 seconds.
    Grind: Fine/Medium

Medium Ground: At a medium grind, coffee should be gritty like sand with no considerably large pieces.

Auto Drip Pot: The Auto Drip style coffee maker is an efficient and hassle-free way to make a fresh pot. With the correct grind and water to coffee ratio, it IS possible to get a great cup of coffee using this method.
    Grind: Medium

Chemex: The Chemex is an elegant brewing device that extracts only the purest, most flavorful coffee without any bitterness or sediment. Because of the incredible functionality and design, the Chemex, paired with Chemex Bonded Filters, create a pure coffee experience unlike any other.
    Grind: Medium/Coarse

Coarse Ground: At a coarse grind, coffee is separated into large fragments similar to grained kosher salt.

French Press: The French Press is a classic and easy way to prepare decadent and smooth coffee and can easily be converted to brew cold coffee. The coffee grounds and water are separated by a fine mesh plunger leaving only fresh brewed coffee after 5 short minutes.
    Grind: Coarse

Toddy Cold Brew: The Toddy Cold Brew system is a simple and consistent way to extract a delicious and low-acid brew. Oils and fatty acids that would normally settle into hot coffee are eliminated leaving you with a perfectly balanced and smooth cup of iced coffee.
    Grind: Coarse

    Best African Coffee So Far

The Ethiopian Yirgacheffe was my favorite till I tried the Kenya Nyeri. It has the perfect combination of taste, body and roast. The folks at FRC are doing a great job. Keep up the good work.

    Great Coffee

We searched all other promising coffee beans to compliment as an alternative the Kona Beans we get from Kona Coffee & Tea in Hawaii. This Kenya AA is by far the best choice. Only wish we could get as Full Roast. Only Medium Roast is currently available unless you order I believe its 15 bags so of course the beans would dry up by the time you used them

    A Question Of Roast

Firstly, I'd like to say that these Kenya AA beans appear to be very nice beans and the roast is done evenly and well There's nothing that puts me off a coffee faster than different colored beans in a single origin coffee, and especially individual beans that vary in color from one side to another. Secondly, I'll state my preference regarding roast: For Kenya coffee I find that a full city roast brings out all its outstanding elements. Here's where the trouble begins: There does not seem to be an industry-wide standard for the various roasts.

I took a chance on these beans because for some companies the full city roast would be considered medium dark. For my taste these beans are just past that. Not by much, but there's that hint of charcoal in the nose when you open the bag and when you savor the cup. For me, when you get darker than the full city roast that I know, the Kenya coffee starts losing those bright, fresh delights that I buy it for.

I'm hoping this roaster will offer the Kenya beans in their medium roast, as I imagine it would more resemble the full city roast I know than their medium dark.
